Massachusetts Postpones Effective Date of Lead in Children's Jewelry Regulations
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) has postponed the effective date for implementation of 105 CMR 650.021, regulations relative to lead in children’s jewelry, from June 13, 2008 to October 17, 2008. The four-month extension is to allow adequate time for manufacturers, distributors and retailers to ensure their products have been tested by certified laboratories and are in compliance with the regulations when they take effect. The MDPH will post an updated guidance document about these new regulations on its website,
www.mass.gov/dph/, on June 6, 2008.
