CPSC Approves STR as an Accredited Third Party Laboratory for Lead Paint Testing
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced that STR's laboratories in the US, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen are among the first accredited labs approved by the CPSC for testing children's products for compliance with the US federal restrictions on lead-containing paint (16 CFR 1303).
Under the recently enacted Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), compliance with third party testing for lead paint is mandatory for any children’s product manufactured more than 90 days after the CPSC’s publication of third party accreditation requirements for the lead paint regulation. The CPSC published these requirements on September 22, 2008. Therefore, products manufactured after December 21, 2008, must comply with third party testing for lead paint. As a CPSC accredited lab, STR is poised to assist our clients in complying with these new testing requirements.
