Chen Xiaohong, China's Vice Minister of Health, announced that new food safety standards are being drafted following the implementation of the Food Safety Law on June 1, 2009. This new system will be designed to bring the safety standards in line with international regulations and will integrate existing standards, create new ones in areas where they are lacking as well as do away with contradictory rules.
