    • Norway Proposes Stricter Requirements for Hazardous Substances
    Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) has adjusted its proposals on the Prohibition on Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer Products which suggested a ban on 18 hazardous substances in consumer products. Read more.

    • Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (H.R. 4040)
    The "Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008" (H.R. 4040) was signed into law by President George Bush on August 14, 2008 (Public Law 110-314). This law promises to provide better enforcement tools and expands the role of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in ensuring the safety of consumer products, particularly those designed for children.     • New York State Passes Children's Product Safety and Recall Effectiveness Act of 2008
    On September 4, 2008, New York's Governor signed into law A11316-A/S8297-A, Chapter 553, the Children's Product Safety and Recall Effectiveness Act of 2008. This law is effective March 4, 2009 with the exception of the labeling requirements which shall become effective July 1, 2009. Read more.

    • New York State Passes Legislation Banning Yo-Yo Waterball Toys
    On September 5, 2008, New York's Governor signed into law A00472/S00170A, Chapter 498, which prohibits import, manufacture, sale, offer to sell, or distribution of a yo-yo waterball toy. This prohibition is effective December 4, 2008. Read more.
